Brita Water Filters
I’ve recently moved and the area I’m staying in this year has quite horrid water. It doesn’t seem to be doing peoples skin any good either if water can affect that. My friends just bought a Brita filter and it wasn’t very expensive but I don’t think I would bother to keep buying cartridges for it as we are only here until summer. Does boiling water, then keeping it in the fridge have a similar effect? or not? thanks!
Thank you so much everyone! I know I could have researched it but this was much quicker and I wondered what other people thought of filters, I think I’ll just buy a Brita filter now.
Thank you all!

No, boiling water wouldn’t do anything to help the taste of nasty or hard water; the Brita actually filters out impurities through charcoal and is probably your best bet.
Brita wants you to change filters every 2-4 weeks, but in my experience they work fine for at least 2 months.
No… brita and boiling do different things.
Brita filters out the stuff in the water while boiling kills any pathogens in the water, but the bad tasting stuff is still in the boiled water.
I’ve used Brita pitchers for years. If you are in a situation where you need fresh pure water I recommend these Brita’s they come in different sizes and I have actually reused my filters by shaking them vigorusly and running them through the pitcher several times. This actually worked very well for me and save on cartridges. I also buy the 3 pk cartridges in multiples they come 3 to a pkg. check out Brita.com
they may have coupons to save on cartridges..In a disaster (God forbid) My Brita is one of the first things I’d try to grab.
Boiling water gets rid of microbial pests. Filtering water helps gets rid of mineral, chemical, and heavy metal pests. All depends on what kind of pests your water has. In any municipal water system the likely pest is of the inorganic variety so I’d opt for a filtering system.
Brita cartridges for the pitcher aren’t that expensive. In California I pay $40 for 10 and each lasts about 4-6 weeks. That’s WAY cheaper than bottled water.
If it’s affecting skin I’d recommend some kind of filter for the shower as well. I don’t recommend water softeners as they tend to be expensive to maintain and ruin your water heater.
