i recently bought a Brita pitcher and the top part has a bunch of black specs in it. i’ve read that they’re carbon and charcoal. im not sure which one it is. its not i the actual water though. i know that’s normal for a new filter but the manual says thats only supposed to happen the first to times. but it still does that and a lot comes out. could it be because i soaked the filter in warm water for 15 minutes instead of cold water like it says??
how can you make them stop coming out?
or do you give thanks every day to those wonderful people who had the brains to invent such wonderful things like…hot water heaters, furnaces, digital cameras, dishwashers, Brita water pitchers, Advil, and most importantly…artificial Christmas trees with the lights already attached?
Did I forget anything?
I am 30 weeks pregnant and every time I go to my OBGYN and I tell her about certain problems I have been having, such as Charlie horses, hip pain, back pain, headaches, abdominal cramps, etc. she tells me to drink more water… this is always her solution. Its pretty aggravating, but I figure she must know whats best so I follow her instructions. I drink water almost constantly. I go through 2 1/2 to 3 Brita pitchers of water each day. Is it possible to be drinking TOO MUCH water? Is there any chance of hurting my baby or myself? because I do know that it is possible to drink too much water normally…. something about electro lights, but does pregnancy change anything? I will take all the help I can get. THANKS IN ADVANCE.
So I read in the Sunday paper not to refill plastic water bottles with the number 1, so I went out and bought those hard plastic refillable water jugs that the hikers use, now they say those with the #7 are bad too.(those have # 7) I am sick of this. I like to drink water all day long and always have a waterbottle that won’t leak. What now, I am considering a mason jar, but that carries it’s own risks if it falls. Also. What about those brita pitchers, what number do they have at the bottom, because people keep refilling those?
My roommate and I have lived in the same house for about 2 1/2 years. At the beginning we got along just fine. We both had similar likes…we both liked to party. I’m not so much in that scene anymore. Not that she is either, but I just find the longer I hang around her less I like her. She’s one of those rare people that EVERYTHING goes over her head. I don’t say that because she annoys me but, this is the person that says things like, "Quebec is in Iraq." or "You know…the equator. Like around Arkansa." It’s at the point that small stupid things anger me. Like, how hard is it to match up the grooves in a Brita water pitcher? Or how difficult is it to clean the tub after you shave…you take that how you want.
The thing is, I have one more year of school left. It is cheaper to live where I live now and no matter what at some point she is going to have to move – with me leaving she won’t be able to afford the house and the landlord only allows the cheap price because of me (just stating facts, not trying to brag). I quess my question is, do I just suck it up and finish the year with the possibility of really getting into it with her or just leave while things aren’t that bad? At this point, I don’t care, but I feel like I’m being spiteful.
My handicapped sister received her disability disability check today. She lives with my youngest sister who works as a nurse aide full time. They both got paid today. My youngest sister receives her payment on a direct deposit account. She was using her checking debit card today to buy a money order at Walmart today. The printer on the money order machine broke. She said that the money would be debited back to her card in about a week. She asked for a manager since she needed the money order for rent. The manager reluctantly gave back the money to her in cash. My handicapped sister then tried to return dog clippers she bought a few weeks back and that didn’t work.
The customer service cashier was nasty to her and made a rude comment to the other cashier. She accused my handicapped sister of stealing the clippers almost. My handicapped sister started crying in the store. She misplaced the receipt for the clippers. She can only go out about 3 times a month because she has agoraphobia.
There is no place for this type of rudeness to someone who is seriously disabled. My sister would never steal anything. Has anyone else noticed how rude the Walmart cashiers have been lately? I went to another Walmart in my area. I was trying to buy a Brita water pitcher with a coupon I got recently. The coupon was for the pitcher. The cashier said that it didn’t match the item. I took the coupon to Target who accepted it for the same exact item. Walmart has been trying to appeal to more shoppers lately. But have no selection in their stores, empty shelves, and rude cashiers. This shopper is going elsewhere. It’s sad because I live in a large metro suburb and can’t find variety of stores.
I recently put a new cartridge in the pitcher and left it in the refrigerator. The fridge must be broken because the water froze around the cartridge. Some carbon got out and there are yellow circular things in the cartridge and I was wondering if that is normal or something is wrong. I guess what I’m wondering is if the cartridge can still be used after freezing; I don’t remember seeing these "beads" before and i don’t want to use the filter if it is messed up from the frozen water.
I really want to spell "B I t C H" on her car with bologna and let the sun peel the paint, however, I think there might be a better alternative for revenge? I already poured vinegar in the Brita water pitcher in the fridge and let her drink it. It was funny. What else can i do to laugh?
I pee in her shampoo bottles and body wash. I need something more satisfying. I am moving out soon she has made my life a living hell, and Im done playing nice!!! She spit in my face
For about three and a half months, the refrigerator in my apartment at school sat dormant – plugged in, but turned off. The only things I left inside were an unopened bottle of wine and an empty Brita pitcher.
When I moved back in, I was horrified to discover a massive amount of black mold – probably at least 20% of the surface area of the interior. When the landlord suggested I leave the fridge off to save electricity, he failed to mention that keeping the door open was required to prevent this from happening.
So, the question: assuming that this mold grew from nothing but the moisture that was inside the fridge, and not a bunch of months-old food, just how toxic or non-toxic is it likely to be? I plan on mixing up a 10-1 water-bleach solution and going to town on it, but should I also being looking for a respirator? And there aren’t any windows anywhere near the kitchen, so ventilation is almost non-existent. Any tips on how to handle this safely?
