Hi,
I have a Kenmore 80-series washer. It looks pretty old. I bought a home a year ago and have no appliance records.
The water is dirty, doesn’t produce good suds, and leaves a dark grey ring around the tub. The dark ring is like a pasty, gritty substance. I have (had):
1. San Francisco check the water – it is fine. Soft and drinkable.
2. 2 plumbers take a look – one thinks I need to filter my water into the washer. Says problem is the water.
3. Flushed machine with diluted vinegar – was a bit better for a load or 2 – then re-flushed, still a problem.
4. Flushed machine with diluted bleach – was a bit better for a load or 2 – then re-flushed, still a problem.
5. Talked to one appliance repair person who said buy a new washing machine – too expensive to fix. Says problem is washing machine.
Didn’t have any problems until December – now it is a continual problem. Any advice? I have a picture.
Thanks!!
I just called an appliance repair – he said the bearing is broken and to buy a new machine. Thoughts? Original question:
