I saw a commercial for this on TV – instead of pitcher, this system filters directly into four water bottles. I can’t seem to find it online or in any stores. Does anyone know what brand makes this product?

I have tried the Nalgonda technique, but don’t really like the taste, my britta filter makes it taste better, so I guess this may be the best solution.
I know that distillation will work, but it is really energy intensive.

some one told me that if you leave a pitcher filled with water for a few days, the fluoride will just go away, but I can’t seem to find out if that would work.

and I am really not looking if I should be taking out the fluoride out of the water, I am just looking for info about how.

alternatively, anyone know how to test for fluoride so I can just try various ways and see if they worked ?

i have 2 goldfish…1 is a black moor and the other is a comet (i think)…okay when hurricane irene hit 2 weeks ago, the power went out at midnight and when i got home from work at 8am the comet was upside down but still breathing…i freaked out really bad because i have become attached to them….my husband went and got a pitcher and put 2 bottles of spring water in it and put the comet in there…we put some food in there (that he ignored) but i kept shaking the pitcher for about 3 hours and he flipped back over but was barely swimming….so when the power came back on around 4pm, we put him back in the water and he looked sick for about 24 hours and then he gained his strenghth back….the black moor was not affected by the power going out…we have a filter and i guess it’s oxygen that it looks like the comet needs…okay at 840pm tonight my daughter called and said the power went out (i’m not happy to hear that)….okay what is your suggestion to keep the comet alive? i was thinking to pull him out the water and do the pitcher thing now or should i wait a couple hours?…not sure…thanks a million in advance!!!!!

Our fridge doesn’t have enough room on its shelves to fit tall objects. A bottle of Poland Spring has barely enough room.

Is there a Brita, Pur or other water filtering pitcher that is no taller than 8 or 9 inches?

I would like to hear your experiences with drinking water. What type have you found to be safest, most thirst quenching and best tasting? I avoid tap because I rent an old home with nasty pipes. And I don’t know if any of the filter pitchers, purifiers, etc. can overcome that? I don’t have money to pay a lot. I drink plastic gallons of what is labeled as spring water. But it says reverse osmosis is used. Not sure what to make of that. Causes bitter and metallic taste in my mouth, plus upsets my stomach.

Ok so call my dumb, but I got a new Brita pitcher and I’m having some difficulties. It was a gift, one of those orange ones. I followed the directions in the box but the filter does not fit in. It stays raised so that the water just sneaks through around the circular edges and goes in without filtering. The Brita website said the rim of the filter should be flush with the open in the pitcher where you insert it. Mine is sticking up. Another website said to twist but that doesn’t do anything. Shouldn’t the cross shape on the bottom of the piece in my pitcher fit into the cross shaped insert on the bottom of the filter? Because that isn’t happening in mine. Help!

I’ve started to boil my tap water and run it through a pitcher filter…and some of my family thinks I’m weird for it. But I’ve seen the information online about tap water….even from the EPA site……and it’s obvious you shouldn’t just drink tap water straight without doing something to purify it.
