If you only bought one, would you buy one of the actual portable water filters or one of the water bottles that filters? They both claim to get 100 gallons? I’m thinking the water bottle would be more convenient, but does anyone have experience with either?

So I’ve signed up for this camping trip in April to a semi-arid tropical island off the coast of Puerto Rico. The sponsor of the trip has stated that they will provide all meals and transportation but we have to bring enough water/beverages. The island has NO fresh water source, but through my research I have found that near the boat dock is a shower, and toilet. So there is water, but it’s non-potable. Would it make more sense to bring a portable water filtration system and just filter the water they have there (which i’m assuming is from a rain water cistern)?
If I should just bring purified water, how much would you bring for 5 days (1 of which will be spent for transport there and back on a boat) for 2 people?

Just looking for some advice, thanks for any help. And hey if you have any other sage advice please feel free to chime in!

My Sharp portable a/c unit has been doing its job and cooling down my room pretty well until a couple days ago… it’s the right BTU for my room size for sure and I’ve been very comfortable in my room.

Right now, my room isn’t unlivable or anything… it’s not hot (just a little during the morning/day when it’s hottest) but it’s not as cold as it used to be. I can sleep at night fine and it’s not a nuisance but I’ve noticed that the air doesn’t seem to be traveling around the room and cooling it like it used to. I cleaned out the air filters which had dust and crap all over it and put it back in, but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything or improving.

I’m in NYC so we have a huge heat wave going on and it’s been extremely hot out… is it possible that the room isn’t cooling as well because of extreme temperatures? Also, my apartment is on a higher floor and heat rises…

Lastly, what exactly does it mean to drain my portable a/c? There’s something in the manual that says that the machine will shut down and indicate that I need to drain water or something, but can that affect the way the a/c cools my room? Should I drain the machine even though it hasn’t notified me to yet?

Last summer it worked fine the tank would fill almost everyday. I cleaned both filters and the hoses are exhausted outside and it is not collecting any water.

I bought my soleusair portable air conditioner and used it for 2 days. On the third day, i pulled it aside to get through, and my carpet was wet. i tried to figure it out by removing the filters to see the inside, and there is no leaking in the pipes anywhere. I saw a bucket where it is holding the water properly, even though my A/C says there is no water and everything will go out of the exhaust hose. It has a hose on the bottom to release the water when it gets high enough, but it doesnt release water. I am guessing it got wet b/c the bucket overfilled but why wouldnt the hose not release water? Could it be b/c my room is too hot too?

I just went to the festival today and I bought a gold fish. It was in a portable tank with gravel (there was no filter). The guy said to change the water once every day and do not use tap water. Feed him twice a day and to keep him in room tempeture. Do I need to buy a filter for him to live for 10 years? How do I take care of him??

I have changed the water sep & drained the engine filter. Used a portable gas can. after a while, it does the same and you can maintain under 2000 rpms. The bulb on the portable tank colapses on high speed(3200rpm) and the in line filter screen also colapses. Also using fresh quality gas.
What I didn’t make clear is the main tank is 100gal. The filter & sep were cleaned/replaced. This is happening on the main tank/sometimes on the portable. The portable issue is different because the bulb could be old(10yrs). I did that to determine if it was a fuel issue or not.

I have a portable dishwasher that you’re supposed to attach to a faucet, but I already have a water filter attached to my faucet. Can I attach a diverter to my faucet so that I can have both attached at the same time?
